NYPD: Police Involved Shooting Leaves Suspect Wounded In Brownsville

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD says there was a police-involved shooting in Brooklyn Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened at around 3 p.m. near Osborn Street and Blake Avenue in Brownsville, police said.

Someone told police that the suspect had a gun. Officers approached the suspect who fled and pointed the weapon back at police who then opened fire, 1010 WINS reported.

"Yeah, there was a lot of shooting going on," witness Kissy said, "They was just going back and forth, you heard one set go off, then you heard another three, four go off, then you heard another five, six, seven."

Police recovered a gun from the suspect.

The suspect a 15-year-old male, was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition. Police said that his injuries are non-life threatening and he is expected to recover, 1010 WINS' Gary Baumgarten reported.

Two officers were taken to Jamaica Hospital for tinnitus. The incident remains under investigation.
