Song Writer Puts New Twist On Children's Music
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Musician Sandra Boynton first made her mark as a greeting card writer and illustrator.
Boyton's top card was a pun on "Happy Birthday To You" that featured four animals and read "Hippo Birdie Two Ewes", it sold 10-million copies.

After the cards came best-selling children's books including "Hippos Go Berserk" and five albums of what she calls "renegade children's music" which was inspired by her own four kids.
"When they were little I really got tired of hearing what people were doing for children in music because it doesn't tend to be very good," she told WCBS 880's Jane Tillman Irving, "It tends to be pretty condescending and hard to listen to."
Her latest piece called "Frog In Trouble" is country music. It's a little cowboy and a little honky-tonk, like Ben Folds on Broken Piano.
