2 Hospitalized After Port Authority Bus Terminal Knife Fight

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Two people were injured Tuesday night, when a knife fight broke out at the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Paramedics arrived around 8:50 p.m. to the bus terminal at Eighth Avenue and 42nd Street, 1010 WINS reported.

CBS 2's Lou Young reported the fight took place on the main concourse near the ticket counter, and involved three people who knew each other. No bus passengers were affected.

One of the three people stabbed the other two, police said. One of the victims was cut in the back of the head, the other in the abdomen.

The FDNY EMS told CBS 2 they transported two people to St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The victims were men ages 61 and 47, police said.

The suspect remained at large late Tuesday, but police said they knew whom they were looking for.

The suspect is 5 feet 6 inches tall, and was last seen wearing black pants and shoes.

The bus station was placed on lockdown following the stabbing, with no one allowed in or out. The terminal later reopened.

Immediately following the incident, NJ TRANSIT reported bus service to and from the terminal may experience delays due to "police activity."

The incident happened within hours of the Times Square New Year ball drop just blocks away.
