De Blasio Announces Press Team

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio's press team includes veterans who have worked for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and President Barack Obama.

De Blasio has announced his press team Tuesday.

Phillip Walzak will be press secretary. Walzak worked on de Blasio's mayoral campaign and was formerly a senior communications staffer for Wisconsin Sen. Tammy Baldwin.

Rebecca Kirszner Katz, who also worked on the campaign, will be a special adviser to the mayor. She's an ex-communications director for Reid.

Marti Adams will be first deputy press secretary. Adams worked for the U.S. Treasury Department and Obama's 2012 campaign. She'll be the lead spokesperson for de Blasio.

Wiley Novell is a deputy press secretary. He worked as a spokesman for de Blasio when the new mayor was public advocate.

Rounding out the team are Angela Banks, Maibe Ponet and Mahen Gunaratna.
