Photo Of Gisele Bundchen, 1-Year-Old Daughter Helmetless On ATV Draws Ire

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A new photograph of supermodel Gisele Bundchen on vacation with her daughter is creating some controversy.

In the photo, Bundchen is seen riding a four-wheeler with her 1-year-old daughter. Neither of them are wearing helmets, CBS 2's Emily Smith reported.

Even though Bundchen's little girl, Vivien, is strapped into a carrier, pediatrician Laura Popper called the photo horrifying. "One little bump or bunchen, and she's flying off . Children die on ATV's."

In a statement the supermodel's publicist said she was driving slowly on a private beach. "Her hair in the picture is not flying in the wind, showing a lack of speed."

This isn't the first time Bundchen has run into controversy over helmets. Her family was photographed without helmets in Costa Rica back in March.

More recently, she made waves after posting a photo on social media of her breast-feeding while her glam squad perfected her look. She posted the photo after saying there should be a law requiring every mother to breast feed for six months, Smith reported.

Bundchen, however, is not the only celebrity to raise some eyebrows over helmet wearing. In 2006 Britney Spears was spotted with her son behind the wheel of a car while she drove. And photographers caught Tony Hawk in 2012 stunt riding a skateboard with his daughter without helmets.
