Police Seek Suspect In Attempted Abduction Of 11-Year-Old Girl In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are on the hunt for a man who they say attempted to kidnap an 11-year-old girl in the Bronx.

According to authorities, the incident happened just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officials said the girl was walking on Castle Hill Avenue, in the vicinity of Lafayette Avenue when she was approached by a man who had exited a blue Astro van.

The suspect grabbed the victim and attempted to get her in the van, police said.

The girl, however, was able to break free and the suspect fled in the van. The girl was not injured during the incident.

Police describe the suspect as an 18-year-old Hispanic male, 5 feet tall, and weighing 130 pounds. He was wearing brown boots and a black snorkel jacket.
