HARTFORD, Conn. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A police pursuit of a man on the streets of Hartford escalated into an exchange of gunfire that ended with the death of the suspect at the scene, officials said Saturday.

According to Connecticut state police, the incident began after two Hartford police officers followed and stopped a vehicle that had been speeding away from an area where gunshots were detected early Saturday.
