Mother: Bronx Teacher Sexually Harassed 12-Year-Old Girl

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Bronx mom says her daughter doesn't want to go to school anymore after a teacher insulted and sexually harassed her.

Stephanie Gibbs said that on Friday at Middle School 232, seventh-grade teacher Miguel Tactuk first called her 12-year-old daughter, Kayla, an "ogre."

But he didn't stop there, Gibbs told 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria.

After Kayla got up to throw away some trash, Taktuk allegedly used a vulgar word to describe the size of the girl's buttocks.

Gibbs claims that moments later the teacher made a similar remark to another girl.

"For a teacher, a male teacher, to feel that it's OK to address any female student that way, he needs to be removed," Gibbs said. "That is sexual harassment.

"He's being disrespectful. He's being a pervert. And he should be removed out the school."

The city's Department of Education released a statement Wednesday saying: "We take all allegations of inappropriate behavior very seriously. We are investigating the matter and will reassign the teacher away from the classroom."
