Police Seek 3 Suspects In Alleged Anti-Gay Attack In Gramercy Park

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Thursday were asking the public to help find three men in an anti-gay assault in Gramercy Park last month.

Around 3 a.m. New Year's Day, a 27-year-old man and a 34-year-old man were walking together in front of 265 First Ave., across from Stuyvesant Town, when they ran into three men making anti-gay comments, police said.

The 27-year-old man began to quarrel with the three men, who assaulted him and left him with a bruise on the side of his head, police said.

The case was being investigated by the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force.

Police have released surveillance images of three suspects, who were described only as three white males in their 30s.

Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
