NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Michael Sam set the Twittersphere ablaze Sunday night when he announced he’s hoping to be drafted as an openly gay pro football player.

Messages of support from celebrities, NFL players, college teammates and media members poured in for the Missouri All-American defensive end after his coming out.

But with the draft just three months away, others wondered whether the league is prepared to welcome gay players.
