Capture Of Terror Suspect Anas Al-Libi Caught On Surveillance Video

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Never-before-seen footage has surfaced of American special forces capturing one this country's most wanted terror suspects.

The rare video, obtained by the Washington Post, shows the mission took just seconds to complete.

American commandos participating in the top secret operation in Libya last October were caught on surveillance video.

The video shows U.S. forces in a white van as they pulled up next to Anas al-Libi's car, which was parked in front of his Tripoli home.

The Americans rushed the car with guns in hand.

Another van arrived to block any chance of escape. The commandos pulled al-Libi out of his car and into their van.

The raid was a joint effort of the CIA, FBI and the U.S. Army's Delta Force, CBS News' Marlie Hall reported.

The video was presumably recorded by a security camera near al-Libi's home.

The next day, while his family described what happened, interrogators were questioning the terror suspect aboard a U.S. Navy ship in the Mediterranean.

Al-Libi is accused of playing a role in the 1998 bombings of two American embassies in Africa. More than 200 people died in the attacks.

Al-Libi was brought to New York to face a judge. He pleaded not guilty to terrorism charges and is awaiting trial.
