Report: Jets' Ed Reed Has $50K In Cash Stolen From Car

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Jets safety Ed Reed had $50,000 in cash stolen from his car, Houston police said via the New York Daily News.

According to the report, the incident happened on Wednesday at approximately 3 p.m. in Houston. The future Hall of Famer told police that he stopped at two banks. At the second one, the alleged suspect smashed Reed's passenger window and stole the money.

The Jets didn't comment on the report.

The 35-year-old signed a three-year, $15 million contract with the Texans in March of 2013. After undergoing arthroscopic surgery and subsequently losing his starting job, he was released by Houston in November.

The nine-time Pro Bowler signed with Gang Green two days later after clearing waivers.

In seven games with New York, Reed recorded 22 combined tackles and three interceptions. He had 16 tackles in seven games for the Texans but didn't pick any passes off.

The all-time great will be a free agent this offseason and it's unclear whether he'll return to the Jets' organization.
