Valentine's Day Flower Deliveries Go On Despite Snowstorm

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Love is in the air, and a little - or a lot of - snow won't change that.

One florist on the Upper West Side is gearing up for one of the busiest days of the year, making deliveries as planned ahead of Valentine's Day.

"No is never an option," Sal LoMonaco, owner of Academy Floral on Broadway, told WCBS 880's Marla Diamond. "Most shops aren't delivering today."

"We gotta do what we gotta do," an employee told Diamond. "It's gonna be a lot of fights and we don't want that!"

"Snow, rain, sleet or snow can't stop us," said one of the shop's deliverymen.

Deliveries will be made as long as the plows are out, Diamond reported.

LoMonaco said the shop plans to keep delivering bouquets through the weekend.

Anna Rinaudo, owner of Ana's Florist and Gifts in Middletown, N.J., said the weather is scaring customers off the road and she's added extra drivers to make deliveries for those disinclined to come out in this weather.

"We did get more drivers, so the orders are coming in but we still need to get them out there for them," Rinaudo told 1010 WINS' Gary Baumgarten. "I was here this morning at 5:30 and I made sure everything is being prepped right and making sure everything gets out on time."
