Ongoing Utility Problems Leave Brooklyn Residents Feeling Powerless

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Utility problems following last week's big snowstorm have left a Brooklyn couple feeling powerless.

Some Park Slope residents have been without power since Friday, CBS 2 reported.

One couple said that they have been forced to live in a hotel with their one-month-old daughter.

"After a period of challenging weather it finally clears up and now we have power outages. It's just sort of baffling to me. I want to know what happened," Ted Hudson said.

Con Ed told CBS 2 on Sunday, that the power problems resulted from a combination of issues including manhole fires, salt-burned cables, and snow melt.

Crews have had problems gaining access to cables due to parked cars and snow. Power is expected to return to residents on Sunday night.
