Bridgeport Rescue Mission Seeks Donations To Replace Mobile Food Truck

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (CBSNewYork) - A Bridgeport relief organization has found itself in need of a helping hand.

As WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau reported, the Bridgeport Rescue Mission is seeking contributions to help replace a broken down truck.

The organization feeds the hungry at its soup kitchen, packs up food boxes with a week's worth of staples for needy families and delivers hot meals to neighborhoods with its two mobile food trucks.

Terry Wilcox, who runs the mission, said one of the two trucks has broken down and can't be fixed.

He's on a mission for donations to buy a used truck.

"We haven't had any large gifts toward it," Wilcox told Schneidau. "We don't go after a new one, a new one is like $100,000. But we can get a fairly decent used one for around $25,000."

Wilcox said only about $5,000 has been raised so far.

To donate, you can go to bridgeportrescuemission.org or you can donate with a credit card by calling Linda Casey at 203-333-4087 ext. 110.
