EAST ORANGE, N.J.(CBSNewYork) — Hero firefighters saved a child’s life on Sunday.
Crews responded to a smokey fire in a fourth floor apartment in East Orange. They found the two or three-year-old child inside and not breathing.
The child was removed from the building and first responders started CPR before bringing the child to a hospital in critical condition.
“I feel good. I couldn’t do it without the other guys. It was a group effort,” one firefighter said.
Some residents have been able to return to their homes.
