Jeffrey Corzine, Youngest Son Of Former N.J. Gov. Jon Corzine, Dead At 31

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The youngest son of former New Jersey Gov. Jon S. Corzine has died.

Jeffrey Corzine was the youngest of the ex-governor's three children with with ex-wife Joanne Corzine.

He was 31.

"Mr. Corzine is obviously devastated by this tragic loss. We ask that all respect his family's privacy during this very difficult time,'' said Corzine Spokesman Steven Goldberg in a statement.

Goldberg declined to say where or when Jeffrey died. Details regarding the cause of death were not immediately known.

Upon learning of the passing of Corzine's son, Gov. Chris Christie issued the following statement Thursday: 

"My thoughts and prayers are with Governor Corzine, Joanne and the entire Corzine family on the tragic loss of Jeffrey. They are both devoted parents and the loss they have suffered is unthinkable. Mary Pat and I send our personal condolences and condolences on behalf of all the people of New Jersey to the Corzine family during these very sad times."

Corzine was the 54th governor of New Jersey and was in office from 2006-2010.
