NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) — Jerry may have cringed whenever his annoying neighbor Newman showed up in his apartment, but friends and family were likely relieved when actor Wayne Knight sent out a series of tweets to dispel rumors of his demise.

According to a Daily News report, there has been no confirmation as to how speculation of Knight’s death began but some have pointed to a website resembling TMZ.

The report indicated that the ‘Seinfeld’ actor, 58, had been killed in a tractor-trailer accident near the Pennsylvania-New York border, the Daily News reported.

Knight took to Twitter to reassure fans that he was alive and well.

“Some of you will be glad to hear this, others strangely disappointed,” he Tweeted, “But … I am alive and well!”

Knight also offered his regrets to the family of the woman who was killed in the accident.
