Taxi & Limousine Commission Lieutenant Struck, Dragged By Town Car Stopped For Questioning
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD is investigating after a Lincoln Town Car struck a lieutenant with the New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission on Sunday.
A spokesperson for the TLC told 1010 WINS the town car was pulled over after the lieutenant and an inspector noticed illegal activity.
"The vehicle had a TLC license plate but did not have several other necessary markings, and passengers were observed exiting the vehicle...and so we stopped the vehicle just to ascertain why their necessary markings were missing " said TLC spokesman Alan Fromberg.
The town car didn't stick around for very long. Fromberg told 1010 WINS the driver suddenly took off, striking the lieutenant and dragged her behind the vehicle.
"During the interview the driver unexpectedly threw the vehicle into reverse, striking the TLC lieutenant. She was behind the vehicle. The vehicle also dragged her several feet," Fromberg said.
Fromberg said the lieutenant, who did not want to be identified, was under observation at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and may be receiving stitches for an injury that was sustained in the incident.
"Thankfully her injuries were not life-threatening," Fromberg added.
