Man Dead After Hitting Head While Train-Surfing In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was killed this week after he was hit by a part of the subway system while surfing on top of a No. 6 train in the Bronx.

Police told 1010 WINS Thursday night that the unidentified man was riding on top of the elevated subway train around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, as it headed north between the Whitlock Avenue and Elder Avenue stations, when he hit the object.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police told DNAInfo the man likely ran into a metal support beam or another piece of equipment in the subway system.
