Man’s Body Found Inside Burning Truck In Hampton Bays
HAMPTON BAYS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Police are investigating after a man was discovered inside a burning pickup truck on a beach on the East End of Long Island Saturday afternoon.
Southampton Town Police Department Sgt. Michael Burns said a 911 call of a vehicle on fire was made at 12:04 p.m.
He said the man’s body was discovered in the driver’s side of the pickup after the fire was put out.
The arson squad and homicide detectives have been investigating but don’t believe the man’s death was a result of a criminal act, Burns said.
The man’s identity and age were not immediately released.
Hampton Bays is in Suffolk County and is about 85 miles east of New York City.
