Hackensack Man Accused Of Aggravated Sexual Assault Of 14-Year-Old Girl

HACKENSACK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A northern New Jersey man is accused of engaging in inappropriate sexual activity with a 14-year-old female acquaintance.

Hackensack, N.J. resident Darion Benbow faces charges of aggravated sexual assault, kidnapping, child endangerment and providing alcohol to a minor.

Benbow was arrested Friday, but the charges were not made public until Tuesday.

According to authorities in Bergen County, the 23-year-old picked up the victim Friday at a supermarket in Rochelle Park and brought her to his apartment.

Authorities allege he then gave her an alcoholic beverage before engaging in sexual activity against her will.

The victim eventually contacted a friend and was able to leave Benbow's residence. The victim and her friend then reported the incident to the authorities.

Benbow was being held Tuesday on $400,000 cash bail.
