Fake Hand Grenade Forces Brief Closure Of Stewart Airport
NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) — A fake hand grenade in a passenger’s luggage disrupted operations at Stewart Airport on Wednesday, New York state police said.
The airport in New Windsor was closed just after 10:30 a.m. when the souvenir grenade was found during security screening, troopers said.
The passenger terminal was evacuated while the item was removed by state police bomb disposal experts, authorities said. The terminal reopened at about noon.
Investigators determined the passenger had no malicious intent and there will be no criminal charges, police said.
