Ex-Cop, Heavy Metal Singer Admits To Disability Fraud
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — A former police officer was ready to rock despite that he was still receiving disability payments.
Christopher Inserra, a former Port Authority cop, pleaded guilty in a Brooklyn court Tuesday to one count of fraud after he was accused of collecting disability for an arm injury while performing in a metal band called Cousin Sleaze.
Inserra had reported injuring his right arm in 2010 while on duty at the World Trade Center. He collected more than $31,000 in disability for the next two years.
Video from that period shows him on tour as the lead singer for Cousin Sleaze. A criminal complaint says he could be seen pumping his fists and thrashing around on stage.
