Pineapple Spill Snarls Early Morning Traffic On Staten Island Expressway

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Motorists on the Staten Island Expressway Saturday morning had the chance to take a fruity breakfast on the go after a truck carrying pineapples overturned and spilled its contents.

At around 5:43 a.m. a tractor-trailer carting pineapples flipped near the expressway's Slosson Avenue exit, the Staten Island Advance reported.

The accident shut down eastbound traffic for several hours.

Firefighters told the Advance a second car also was involved in the accident. They said the driver of one of the vehicles was treated for minor injuries.
