No. 7 Train Fills With Smoke After Track Fire

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- There were some scary moments aboard a No. 7 train when a fire broke out on the tracks.

The incident occurred Monday night on a Queens-bound train near Grand Central Terminal.

Photos posted on Twitter showed passengers in smoke-filled subway cars.

"The car filled with smoke, people were crying, people tried to drop down to the floor, they covered their mouth with shirts, and throughout all this there was no public address system announcement about what was happening," passenger Matthew Russell Lee told CBS 2.

No. 7 train service in Manhattan was suspended for about an hour while the fire department got things under control.

No injuries were reported.
