Oops! NHL Online Store Accidentally Discounts Customized Rangers Jerseys

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Oops!

The NHL online store accidentally discounted prices for authentic, customized 2014 Stanley Cup jerseys.

And when we say discounted, we mean discounted.

Shop.NHL.com sold customized Stanley Cup jerseys on May 31 for just $63.33. Customized jerseys on the site normally go for $184.95.

With the prices so incredibly low, #JerseyGate began to trend on Twitter. With the error going viral, the "discounted" Rangers jerseys sold out.

The league, realizing its costly mistake, quickly went into damage-control mode.

On Sunday, the NHL online store issued the following statement, via Twitter: "Due to a pricing error on Stanley Cup Final Edition Jerseys on our site yesterday, we are going to use our remaining Stanley Cup Final stock on-hand to fulfill as many of these orders as we can, based on sequence of order placed, for the two teams competing in the Final.

"All other orders will be cancelled and issued a $10 store credit as our apology for the inconvenience. We are fans too and regret this error. We hope you give us a chance to make it right in the future."

The Stanley Cup Final between the Kings and the Rangers will kick off on Wednesday night in L.A.
