Police Identify Suspect In Astoria Attack, Attempted Sexual Assault

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Friday were asking the public to help them find a suspect in a sexual assault and abuse in Astoria, Queens.

The suspect has been identified by police as Elvis McKenzie, 27. He is described as a black male standing 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds.

The suspect followed a 53-year-old woman into the elevator of her apartment building in Astoria, and punched and choked the woman before he tried to sexually assault her, police alleged.

The suspect then ran off, police said.

The victim was taken to an area hospital, from which she was treated and released, police said.

Police have released a photo of suspect McKenzie.
