Police Claim L.I. Woman Helped Daughter In Fight With Another Teen

BRENTWOOD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Long Island arrested a woman Thursday, alleging that she helped her teenage daughter in a fist fight with another girl in a Brentwood Park.

Suffolk County police alleged Dorka Lopez, 41, drove her 15-year-old daughter to Regis Park on MacArthur Avenue in Brentwood for a fight with a girl of the same age.

Lopez allegedly watched the girls fight and also allegedly helped in the fight – grabbing the other girl's head and pushing her to the ground, police claimed.

About 20 to 30 teenagers were gathered in the park at the time, police said.

Lopez, of Brentwood, was charged with harassment and endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

She was to be held at the Suffolk County police Fourth Precinct overnight, and will be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.
