EAST MEADOW, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — Preparations are under way in Nassau County for the fireworks show to celebrate Independence Day.
The 11th annual TD Bank Celebrate America Concert and Fireworks is being held Saturday evening at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre in Eisenhower Park.
Phil Grucci of the Grucci family said this year’s show is unique.
“This year we’re celebrating our 200th anniversary of the writing of the ‘Star-Spangled Banner,” Grucci said. “The opening of the program is going to be a rendition of the national anthem accompanied with the full song with pyrotechnics to match the lyrics.”
“We are going to highlight the entire song with twilight’s last gleaming in fireworks,” Grucci added. “Red and white stripes and stars in the sky, rockets red glare, and bombs burst in the air, and then ending with a rousing finale at the end of the song.”
The event kicks off at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The fireworks display will begin at nightfall (approximately 9:30 p.m.) and last 22 minutes.
Tickets, which are required for admission, can be picked up at any TD Bank branch on Long Island, while supplies last.
