It was a tough few days for August.

"I haven't eaten or slept since they took her ... that was Tuesday," August told WCBS 880's Jim Smith.

After the heartwarming reunion with her beloved pooch, August said, "I'm very emotional. I'm really choked up."

A laptop, tablet computer. jewelry and even a box of cookies were missing from the home, police said.

Two people are in police custody, Smith reported. August credits the location features in her missing iPad for putting detectives in hot pursuit of the suspects, Smith reported.

Investigators believe the burglars got in through an unlocked rear door. The family said they plan on beefing up security and will be investing in an alarm system.
