TUXEDO, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) — A seemingly routine traffic stop in Orange County resulted in the arrest of a Paterson, New Jersey man wanted for attempted murder, New York State Police said.

Eli Hynes, 26, of Paterson, was pulled over for allegedly speeding on the New York State Thruway in Tuxedo on Friday, police said.

Hynes was wanted in Passaic County on attempted murder charges stemming from an April 1 shooting in Paterson, police said.

A trooper who stopped Hynes ran his identification through the National Crime Information Center and learned he was a fugitive.
