NJ Senate President Steve Sweeney Wants More Details On Sandy Spending

TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- New Jersey Senate President Steve Sweeney says newly released reports on the state's biggest Superstorm Sandy recovery projects are not detailed enough.

Gov. Chris Christie's administration released its first integrity monitor reports last week, more than 16 months after Christie signed a Sweeney-sponsored law requiring them for contracts of $5 million or more.

Sweeney, D-West Deptford, said the 24-page reports, which include summaries of projects, do not give enough information to show what the state did right -- and wrong -- in the aftermath of the October 2012 storm. He's calling on Christie to release documentation of the information that went into the summary.

"If you're going to spend $5 million, you get more than 24 pages," Sweeney told WCBS 880's Jim Smith.

"I want to see all the information that was compiled to create the summary of a report. I'd like to see every page of that."

Michael Drewniak, a Christie spokesman, said the monitoring is in "full compliance" with the law that requires it. He added that the cost of the report is just a fraction of Sweeney's $5 million price tag.
