Police Say High-Level Sex Offender Flashed Badge Before Assaulting Brooklyn Woman

NEW YORK (AP) -- Police say they're looking for other possible victims after a high-level sex offender flashing a phony police badge assaulted and raped a woman in Brooklyn.

Jason Forgetta was charged Friday with rape, robbery and criminal impersonation of a police officer.

Police say the 37-year-old, who also goes by Jason Torres, attacked the woman after they met early Wednesday on a Sunset Park street.

They say he left with her cell phone and pocketbook.

Police say the 26-year-old woman invited Forgetta to her home after he showed her a gold shield and identified himself as a police officer.

Police say Forgetta is pictured on Facebook wearing the shield on a chain. They say the woman picked Forgetta out of a photo array.

They're asking any other victims to call 212-741-8401.
