Woman Killed In Jersey Shore Auto Racing Clinic Identified

WALL, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Friends and family were mourning the death Sunday of a 21-year-old woman killed in a crash at Wall Stadium Speedway.

Amanda Gambacorto, of Middletown, was killed Saturday when the midget car she was driving hit a wall while she was participating in a beginners race clinic, WCBS 880's Monica Miller reported.

A New Jersey State Police spokesman said the department received a call about the crash around 12:30 p.m. Gambacorto was pronounced dead a short time later at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

She was driving alone. No other injuries were reported.

The track, which is located at the New Jersey shore, canceled its Saturday night events.

Gambacorto's LinkedIn page says she was a marketing intern at Stony Brook University, where she studied environmental humanities and philosophy.

She was also a bartender at Moby's Lobster Deck in Highlands.
