Kids Flock To Barclays Center In Hopes Of Making Brooklyn Nets Dance Team

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Talent was on display Wednesday night, as hundreds of local kids cut a rug in hopes of joining the Brooklyn Nets as part of the dance team.

As CBS 2's Hazel Sanchez reported, the pint-sized dancers were ready to take on the hard court as they tried out for the Brooklyn Nets Kids Dance Team.

"It's an amazing experience performing in front, like, of thousands of people," said Eliza David. "It's a great adrenaline rush."

About 500 hopefuls age 6 to 13 came to audition for the dance troupe, judged not only by their talent but also their energy and ability to learn and retain choreography.

"The kids I end up choosing are always the kids that have superstar power," said Brooklyn Nets Kids Coach Tanisha Scott. "Those are the kids that no matter what they are doing, if they mess up, I can't take my eyes off them."

The kids were giving it all to live a dream, to entertain thousands of Nets fans at the Barclays Center.

"Do your best, have personality, and just work your hardest all the time," said Tymell Hubbard of Wyandanch, Long Island.

They all make it look easy, but only 15 to 18 of the talented dancers will be picked to be a Brooklyn Nets Kid.
