It was a brutal few days in Newark where a local businessman was kidnapped and murdered last Friday, marking the 58th homicide of the year.
Jose Flaco Rivas, 26, arrived around 7 a.m. Friday to open up Yesi Supermarket at 325 Osborne Terrace when a car pulled up and several men in the vehicle got out and grabbed him, 1010 WINS’ Al Jones reported.
A good Samaritan discovered Rivas half a mile away in front of a house on Hunterdon Street, CBS 2’s Christine Sloan reported.
On Saturday, another man was stabbed in the street just blocks away from where Rivas was found.
The Newark Star-Ledger reports Larry Alston is the fifth murder victim in five days in the state’s largest city. The rash of violence comes after more than two weeks without a murder.
