Police Search For Suspect In Attempted Rape In Prospect Heights

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – The NYPD is asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect in an attempted rape in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn.

Police say a 20-year-old woman was walking on Saint Mark's Avenue toward Underhill Avenue around 12:20 a.m., Friday when the suspect came at her from behind, grabbing her waist and covering her mouth with his hand.

He then threw the suspect to the ground and tried to undress her, police said, but ran away when she resisted.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, approximately 5-foot-6, 19 years old, with black hair and weighing around 160 pounds.

Neighbors are shocked, 1010 WINS' Gary Baumgarten reported.
