Noah Syndergaard Confused As To Why He's Not Pitching For Mets
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- As expected, Noah Syndergaard will not pitch for the Mets in 2014.
New York's top prospect (and 11th overall, according to MLB.com), will not be called up this month, manager Terry Collins told reporters on Sunday.
Prior to the season, the 22-year-old was expected to be promoted in the summer months. But injuries and a subpar performance in Triple-A derailed that plan.
Syndergaard is admittedly frustrated and confused as to why he isn't in Queens with the big club right now.
The fireballer also retweeted a frustrated fan who is unsatisfied that general manager Sandy Alderson didn't call Thor up to New York.
Pitching in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, the right-hander went 9-7 with a 4.60 ERA in 26 starts for Triple-A Las Vegas in 2014. He struck out 145 and walked 43, but surrendered 154 hits in 133 innings.
Since rosters have expanded at the beginning of the month, the Mets have called up pitchers Dario Alvarez, Erik Goeddel, Rafael Montero and Gonzalez Germen, catcher Juan Centeno, first baseman Josh Satin and outfielder Bobby Abreu.
