Mets' David Wright Out For Season After MRI On Left Rotator Cuff

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Mets third baseman David Wright is out for the remainder of the season, after undergoing an MRI showing persistent inflammation in his left rotator cuff.

Wright underwent an MRI Tuesday at the Hospital for Special Surgery on the Upper East Side.

The MRI detected the inflammation in Wright's left shoulder, the Mets said in a statement. There may be more diagnostic tests coming later this week.

Based on the results of the exam, Wright will not play for the remainder of the 2014 season.

"He will, instead, rest to abate the inflammation in the rotator cuff, and then begin a rehabilitation program to strengthen the entire shoulder," the Mets said.
