3 N.J. Men Accused Of Selling Fake Driver's Licenses Online
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Three New Jersey men are accused of roles in an online shop that sold fake driver's licenses.
Federal prosecutors say Ricardo Rosario and Abraham Corcino, both of Jersey City, and Alexis Scott Carthens, of Newark, were arrested Wednesday. Each man was charged with conspiracy to commit fraud and related activity in connection with authentication features.
Prosecutors say that from October 2012 through August 2014, the three men ran a website that sold fake licenses for seven states, with each license costing about $150.
The website's policy on returns stated: "No refunds. No snitching."
Prosecutors say "a number" of the fake licenses were used in connection with "cash out" schemes, where stolen credit card information was encoded on to counterfeit credit cards and used to steal cash from victims' accounts.
