We're ranking the best local players in history by jersey/uniform number, and this week we unveil 89-80 (for 99-90, click here). Let's get right to it:

89. Mark Bavaro, Giants

Tight end was a two-time Pro Bowler who helped the Giants win a pair of Super Bowls.

88. Al Toon, Jets

Led the NFL in receptions in 1988 with 1993, and was selected to three Pro Bowls. Had an outstanding career in New York.

87. Laveranues Coles, Jets

Has the fourth-most receptions and fifth-most receiving yards in Jets history, over multiple stints.

86. Verlon Biggs, Jets

Hulking defensive end was part of the Jets' Super Bowl-winning team in 1968. Was a three-time AFL All-Star.

85. Del Shofner, Giants

Played with the Giants for seven seasons and made the Pro Bowl in three of them. Is somehow not in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

84. Art Powell, Titans (Jets)

Was top five in receiving yards in the AFL during each of his three seasons in New York.

83. George Sauer, Jets

Star wide receiver played a half-dozen years for the Jets, and had eight receptions during Super Bowl III.

82. Mickey Shuler, Jets

Played for the Jets from 1978-1989 and made the Pro Bowl twice ('86, '88). Tied with Wesley Walker for fifth on the team's all-time receptions list.

81. Andy Robustelli, Giants

Won a Super Bowl with the Giants in 1956, and went to seven Pro Bowls during his entire career. He only missed a single game and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1971.

80. Jeremy Shockey, Giants

Selected to four Pro Bowls and helped the Giants win a Super Bowl in 2007. He's still fourth in Giants history in receptions with 371.
