Search On For Suspect In Rape Attempt In Eastchester, The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Thursday were asking for help in finding a suspect in an attempted rape in the Eastchester section of the Bronx.

Around 11:30 p.m. Sept. 2, a 21-year-old woman walked out of the Baychester Avenue No. 5 train station, and was walking down Tillotson Avenue when the suspect came up from behind, pushed the woman to the ground, and fondled her, police said.

The suspect then tried to rape the victim, who resisted and pulled away, police said.

The victim was taken to Montefiore Medical Center, where she was treated for cuts and bruises to her arms, police said.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male between the ages of 20 and 30, standing about 5 feet 5 to 5 feet 7 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.

Police have released a surveillance video.
