Cops: Burglary Suspect Entered Brooklyn Apartments Through Fire Escapes

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD has asked the public for help in locating a man wanted in connection with a pair of burglaries that took place in Brooklyn.

On Monday, September 15, the suspect went onto the roof of two separate apartment buildings and utilized fire escapes to enter apartments through unlocked windows before fleeing with cash, jewelry, or small electronic devices.

He struck first at a building located in the vicinity of Graham Avenue and Eckford Street in Williamsburg. The suspect walked down the fire escape into the building and entered four different apartments through unlocked windows, police said. The suspect removed cash, jewelry, and small electronic devices before fleeing.

Again on Monday, the suspect went to the roof of a building located near Nassau Avenue and Eckford Street. He walked down the fire escape to the building and attempted to enter an apartment through a window before he was confronted by a victim who was home at the time. The suspect fled to an adjacent apartment, entered through an unlocked window, and fled down a staircase without removing any property.

The suspect has been described as an unknown white or Hispanic male, he is between the ages of 30 and 40, and is 5'7", 150-lbs. He has tattoos along his left arm.
