Airline 'Passenger Shaming' Takes Off On Social Media Sites

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- How would you like to wake up at 30,000 feet and see the shirtless and shameless? Or socks off and toes turning up everywhere?

As CBS 2's Dick Brennan reported, a social media site is calling out passengers behaving badly on airplanes.

It's called "passenger shaming" and features pictures of the rude, crude and just plain gross.

Mary, who has been a flight attendant for 44 years, has seen the skies go from friendly to a little bit disgusting, with people leaving dirty diapers in seat pockets and a snotty tissues around.

"It's yikes," said Shawn Kathleen, a former flight attendant. "It's so beyond yikes."

Kathleen created the Facebook page "Passenger Shaming," showcasing the best of the worst.

And she has seen the worst, such as one passenger who "caught his hair on fire in the lavatory while he was smoking crack."

And from snotty to bratty, there are the little darlings whom Mary has to serve.

"'Johnny, what would you like to drink?'" Mary said. "'Wah, wah, wah!' ... 'I'll come back, Johnny.'"

More revolting: Some people have been seen clipping their toenails on flights.

"There was a gentleman treating his warts with Compound W," Kathleen added.

So if you encounter a rude or disgusting passenger, what do you do?

"I'd try to find a way out of there," said Valerie Nivar, of Rockland County. "I don't know, maybe try to hide in the bathroom or something."

If you've seen bad behavior on an airplane, we want to hear about it. Tell us your passenger shaming stories on our Facebook page.
