Fitness Experts Weigh-In With The Best Moves To Get You Moving In The Morning

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Sometimes finding the time to workout can be difficult, especially in the morning.

On Thursday, CBS 2's Cindy Hsu caught up with Fitness Expert Nicole Glor, and learned a few moves that will get you going and keep you energized all day.

Fitting in a workout can seem impossible, whether you're a busy parent or rushing off to work.

"You know you have to get up early and run to take the train and get to work," babysitter Lucy Manzanet said.

As Glor explained, you can work in six different morning moves before ever leaving the house. It all starts with a plank in bed.

"Roll over, you'll start to get your abs engaged, check the weather, figure out how to dress your child. Dress yourself for your day and then your abs fire up. You start to get a little warm and then it energizes you for the next move," Glor said.

Next Glor suggests working in a set of push-ups.

"This is a serious exercise so you warm up your shoulders. Circle them out," she said

Then get those push-ups going. Glor suggests going for 10, 20, or 30.

"It's absolutely ok to start with 10," she said.

When it's time for breakfast you can fit in some tricep dips.

"You want to work up to 50, so maybe just do 15 and then take a rest, and then do another 15, but eventually move up to 50 altogether," Glor said.

When you're brushing your teeth you can throw in some calf raises or squats.

"And then you can hold the squat too. That's an isometric contraction for your glutes, quads, and backside," Glor explained.

Finally, it's time for a cardio cleanup.

"The best way to get a cardio workout in is don't grab everything at once, just one at a time, squat and run to the toy box, come over here, squat and run to the toy box," she said.

If you need a few more tricks to get moving in the morning you can set your alarm to play fun fitness music, or go to sleep in comfortable clothes so you can workout as soon as you get up.
