WFAN's Ed Randall Stresses Importance Of Prostate Cancer Screenings

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- In an in-studio interview that appeared on CBS 2 on Sunday morning, Ed Randall, host of WFAN's "Talking Baseball," talked about another issue he's passionate about: raising awareness about prostate cancer.

Randall, a prostate cancer survivor and founder of Ed Randall's Fans for the Cure, said his organization had a table at 172 baseball games this season with volunteers distributing "life-saving material."

"This is a crusade of mine as a prostate cancer survivor, telling men that are 40 years of age or older that they need to consult with their doctor every year, get a simple PSA blood test and a digital rectal exam that will save their life, that saved my life -- because early detection is flawless," he told CBS 2's Andrea Grymes.

Randall also talked about the storied career of Derek Jeter, who will play his final regular season game with the Yankees next Sunday at Boston before retiring.

"It's the end of an era," Randall said. "He is the last of the 'Core Four,' as they've called them, to stay active. He's leaving. But his legacy is something that will not be duplicated anytime soon."
