Albany Skyscraper Lights Up With No. 2 In Honor Of Jeter
ALBANY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) — The celebration of Derek Jeter's career extended way beyond the Bronx. There was plenty of RE2PECT upstate, too.
The 44-story Corning Tower in Albany -- the Big Apple's tallest skyscraper outside New York City -- was lit up on Thursday night to display Jeter's No. 2 while the Yankees captain played his final home game before retiring.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo invited fans to watch the game on a big screen that was set up on the Empire State Plaza. Food vendors were also on hand to offer traditional stadium fare.
"(T)his is history in the making," one baseball fan told the Albany Times Union. "You can't miss it."
Jeter played 34 games for the Double-A Albany-Colonie Yankees in 1994.
Cuomo called Jeter a New York icon who played the game with dignity and provided fans with "timeless memories." He came through with another one Thursday night, driving in the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the ninth inning against the Baltimore Orioles.
