Former New Rochelle Soccer Player Sued Over Halftime Fight

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) -- A former New Rochelle high school soccer player has been sued for allegedly breaking an opposing player's jaw.

The civil lawsuit was filed against the player, his parents and the school district.

The Journal News says the injured White Plains athlete's family is seeking unspecified damages.

The suit accuses Stefedson Dieudonne of causing Ozzie Escobedo permanent injuries after he was punched during halftime Oct. 9, 2013.

Escobedo plays for the Tigers.

Dieudonne was charged with misdemeanor assault. The lawsuit says he pleaded guilty to the charge in June. The case is sealed because the 17-year-old was considered a youthful offender.

Attempts to contact Dieudonne's parents were unsuccessful.

The suit says he had been punished for previous misconduct and the district failed to supervise him.
