Police: LI Man With 45 License Suspensions, Revocations Arrested Following Crash

NESCONSET, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island man was arrested Friday night following a motorcycle accident.

Suffolk County police said James A. Tomassi, of Lake Grove, was driving an unregistered 2002 Suzuki northbound on Old Nicols Road near Smithtown Boulevard in Nesconset when he collided with a 2000 Toyota at 6:55 p.m.

Police said following the crash, officers had discovered Tomassi's license had been suspended or revoked a total of 45 times since 2001.

The suspensions included 30 scofflaws on 13 separate dates.

The 32-year-old Tomassi was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He also received 10 traffic-related summonses, police said.

Tomassi was set to be arraigned on Saturday.
